British boxing star Amir Khan is taking the rest of 2017 off to work on his Q score as he is set to appear on the long running television series “I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!”
The long running series takes a group of British celebrities and tapes their every move while they are in the jungles of Australia. Celebrities are eliminated in the show until a final “King or Queen of the Jungle” is named. Filming takes part on-site over a three week period with cameras on the “actors” practically 24 hours a day. In an interview prior to departing for Australia, Khan stated he was eager to “put his cell phone” down and do something different, declaring he would return to the ring in 2018.
Perhaps the biggest celebrities on the show are it’s current hosts Anthony “Ant” McPartlin and Declan “Dec” Donnelly. The long running show has had versions in the U.K., Australia and Germany and has been in existence for over a decade.
Khan is not the first boxer to try his luck at the “I’m a Celebrity” series, as professional fighters Chris Eubank, Nigel Benn, David Haye and Joe Bugner have all tried their luck in front of the cameras with the “I’m A Celebrity” franchise.
Which boxer has finished in the best spot? In December of 2012, heavyweight David Haye finished in third place in the series 12th season. Khan starts filming the 17th season in November and December.
