Al Bernstein is best known to a national audience as the voice of boxing, first for ESPN, and now as the analyst for Showtime Championship Boxing. This Hall of Fame broadcaster is considered by many as the most recognizable and respected boxing commentator and is in his 30th year in television. In addition, Al has carved out a career of varied endeavors and achieved successes in radio, internet, movies, and stage performing and speaking.
Al began his professional life as a journalist. During that time he won the Chicago Newspaper Guilds award for best news story
On radio Al has hosted a nationally syndicated show Coast to Coast with Al Bernstein, where he interviewed guests from the sports and entertainment worlds. For four years he also hosted an award winning daily show, The Sports Party on ESPN 920 in Las Vegas. Al frequently guests as a boxing expert on sports talk radio across the country.
Al has ventured into the world of feature films and television movies and series for a number of appearances. His movie credits include, Rocky V, Streets of Gold, and Play It to the Bone. He has made two guest appearances on the HBO series Arli$$, and appeared in a Showtime movie Paradise and HBO movie Glory Days.
In 1980 Al wrote his first book called Boxing for Beginner, an Instructional Historical book on boxing. His new book 30 Years…30 undeniable Truths, about Boxing, Sports and TV, a lighthearted, but enlightening look back at his 30 years in broadcasting.
Al has now moved into the internet medium on BoxingChannel.tv, a website with an extensive worldwide audience that features Al as host and executive producer.
Through his company Al Bernstein Live, Al has criss-crossed the country as a speaker, emcee and spokesperson for businesses, associations and nonprofit organizations.
